When it is Hard to Pray

Sometimes it is hard to pray. My wife gave birth to a beautiful little girl, but had complications again. Almost exactly the same scenario as our first child. My only prayer throughout her pregnancy was for a healthy baby and a great birth experience. Unfortunately, He chose to allow us to go through the same.

I've had trouble praying. I feel as though I've been let down. I know the truth... but it is difficult to believe. I'm so thankful that there are things in place that allow my wife to leave the hospital feeling good, but I think it is unfair that she had to have the difficulty. I ran into another dad in the elevator who had a new arrival at the same time we did. They are at home now. It is not fair.

I know my God loves me. I know He has a plan for me. I just wish he would review it with me so I would know what to expect.

Hi Matt,
I may have some insight to your situation. After 7 years and 2 miscarriages, we gave birth prematurely to our daughter. She was born at 26 weeks and was 1lb and 10 oz. I too had prayed for a healthy child and delivery. And it took every ounce of faith and positive confession that I had to keep me and my wife going. Our Daughter came out of the Hospital 88 days later at 5 lbs with no issues or complications.
18 months later our Son was born. We went full term but my wife had severe complications such that she had to remain in the Hospital for 2 weeks afterward. What the Holy Spirit showed me in this whole process was that:

a) God's will is good, acceptable and perfect
b) He will never leave you or forsake you
c) God will allow these things to happen to us to develop us in the areas needed to edify the Kingdom.

You see, others are overcome by your testimony. However, you'll have no testimony without being tested first. Instead of praying for my will, I now pray for God's will in my life to be done. My wife and I are now able to witness to others about our situation and hopefully lead them to Christ.

I hope my testimony has helped you somehow.
